Draft Donegal County Council (Presentation of Kerbside Waste for Collection) Bye-Laws, 2024

Donegal County Council propose that for the purpose of the proper management of waste and for the prevention or control of environmental pollution to make Bye-laws under Section 35(1) of the Waste Management Act 1996. These Bye-laws, if made, will require the holder of household or commercial waste to present that waste for collection or bring it to a facility in accordance with the Bye-laws.

 

The Bye-laws address segregation, storage, presentation and collection of the different types of waste. Any person who contravenes these Bye-laws shall be guilty of an offence and will be liable to penalties as set out in the draft Bye-laws.

 

The Bye-laws, if made, will commence in 2024.

 

A copy of the draft Bye-laws will be available for Public Inspection at https://consult.donegal.ie and also in Donegal County Council Public Services Centres for a period of two months, from the Thursday 28th March 2024 to Tuesday 28th May 2024 and can be provided free of charge.

 

Submissions in relation to the Bye-laws are hereby invited and can be provided in writing via https://consult.donegal.ie or to the Environment Section, Donegal County Council, Letterkenny Public Service Centre, Neil T. Blaney Road, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, F92 TNY3 before Tuesday 28th May 2024 using the prescribed form which will be provided with the draft Bye-laws.
