PUBLIC CONSULTATION 1 - STUDY AREA, CONSTRAINTS & ROUTE OPTIONS
Donegal County Council (DCC), in conjunction with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), has identified the need for a Road Improvement Scheme, between the settlements of Falcarragh and Gortahork, on the northwestern Donegal coast. The scheme considers the provision of pedestrian / cyclist facilities in tandem with improvements to the N56 National Road.
DCC have appointed Fehily Timoney – Clandillon Consulting Engineers (FTC) as technical advisors to progress this project through a number of stages, including the consideration of route options (both on-line and off-line options), and selection of a Preferred Option, and through the required statutory processes prior to the development of the scheme design. FTC have identified the various constraints within the study area, which need to be considered by any proposed improvement route. These include environmental issues, engineering and safety elements, local development needs and pedestrian and cyclist movements. DCC now invites the residents of the local area, members of the public and other interested parties to participate in this first non-statutory public consultation. The aim is to receive views on the Project Study Area, the “local and national” Constraints that need to be considered, and a number of proposed Route Options. Your participation in this consultation is important and we value any feedback which you think should be reviewed by the project team to help inform the development of the project.
Submissions relating to the project should be made before 16th August 2024.
If you would like to submit any comments on the proposed development, please complete the feedback form and return by post to the freepost address by 16/08/2024. For additional project information, or to request a feedback form, please contact the Donegal National Roads Office on 07497 24500 or design@dnrdo.ie
